The executive of the choir met for our day planning meeting today. A lot of time was spent continuing a discussion we had begun through emails discussing the consequences of the Covid19 virus and all of the advice given by public health officials etc. We came to the conclusion that we needed to cancel choir practices and singouts for this spring and postpone our spring concert until early September. Our hope is that we can begin choir a few weeks earlier than normal and put on a concert mid September. We would then begin our fall term with Sosun the week of the 20th of September.Of course all this is subject to the availability of the venues and personal. Sosun was in our meeting and has agreed to this process. There are many details to work out still.I borrowed the following from another choir who also cancelled their choir, because it was well written:
This decision is intended to protect the health and safety of our audience, singers, volunteers and community at large.
We also acknowledge the responsibility to reduce the impact of the pandemic and are responding to the advice of public health and medical professionals.
We will get back to you with further information as it becomes available.
Keep safe, Blessing, Denise Benner
Due to the Covid-19 situation the dinner is being postponed. Hang on to your tickets! Details to follow as they become known.
On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, the director search committee, after almost a year’s work, was able to announce the hiring of Sosun Suh as our new choir director. Sosun signed the contract just before choir practice and Robert welcomed her to our practice time. Denise introduced her and shared some of her educational background and experience.
The following comes from Sosun's cover letter:

Now I have a certification in Early Childhood Music Education (ECME) Certificated at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Also I received a Master of Religious Education at University of Toronto.

Sosun will join us again for our rehearsal on Sunday so that those if you who weren’t at Wednesday’s rehearsal will get to meet her and welcome her to our chorus.
Welcome Sosun, we look forward to experiencing where you will guide the chorus!
